Since 1869, Tokyo has been a metropolitan that has been developed as the capital city of Japan, also as a runner and creator of the world in the next era. According to an American political magazine Foreign Policy, Tokyo ranked the third in the whole world for Global Power City Index in August 2010, followed by New York and London. Tokyo, this busy city with so many opportunities, is also my precious hometown. I see the metropolis as a collection of suburb areas and developed areas, such as Shinjuku and Shibuya, always evolving to the future.
JR map
Tokyo’s subway map is way more complicated than New York’s MTA. It is also efficiently networking across the metropolitan.
Akihabara
It is the area where all the “geeky” things are – electric appliances, mechanical parts and even anime goods.

Fan (Sensu)
One of the thing that tells summer has arrived. It is nice and light, and loved as a souvenir to take home.
Samurai
Even though the tradition is very old now... many of my non-Japanese friends sometimes ask me if there’s anywhere they can see a real samurai...
Narita Airport
The gateway into Tokyo from outside of Japan. It is 1.5 hours away from the center of Tokyo.
Harajuku
Even though it is more stylish nowadays, it used to be a mecca for Gen-Z with fancy crepe shops, accessory shops and stores, where high schoolers hang out.
Cute Cafes
If you walk around Ueno area or Shibuya area, you can find many cute cafes that are independent, unique and welcoming.
Doma Doma
Cheap franchised drinking place. I used to gather with my friends back in college.
Lucky bags
It is a tradition in Japan that on the first few days of the New Year, shops and store sells “the lucky bags” filling their products in a bag that people cannot see the inside.
Ueno Zoological Gardens
One of the most well known zoos in Tokyo. It is the biggest, where pandas are the biggest attraction... not bears.
